THE MARY PAPPERT SCHOOL OF MUSIC, DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY, PITTSBURGH, PA.

Founded in 1878 by priests and brothers of the Congregation of the Holy Ghost, Duquesne University has built a proud history of academic excellence in the Catholic tradition. Today, Duquesne offers more than 150 programs on all levels.
The Mary Pappert School of Music is a recognized national leader in performance, music education, music therapy, music technology, and sacred music. OPERA & PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY, PLOVDIV, BULGARIA

Plovdiv Philharmonic was found in 1945 as follower of the traditional and more than hundred years old Thracian orchestral music. More than 120 professional musicians have had contributed to the large repertoire of classical and contemporary symphonic music. World renowned singers and instrumentalists have performed as soloists with the philharmonic, such as Yuri Bukov, Nokolay Ghiaurov, Sviatoslav Rihter, Mistislav Rostopovich, among others. The orchestra often performs on stages in Austria, France, Swiss, Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia, and more. There are many audio and video recording made with the Plovdiv Philharmonic.

Plovdiv opera was created in 1953 and since that time its repertoire is consistent with some of the most significant operatic productions. On the stage of Plovdiv opera for more than 50 years national opera singers, such as Aleksey Milkovski, Nikolay Smochevski, Damian Velchev, Bladimir Todorov, Valery Popova, Valentina Alexandrova, Sonya Hammernik, Kalina Jekova, and others performed in deed for the excellence of the Plovdiv opera. In addition the operatic performances at the Ancient Amphitheater are the most memorable with its true touch of history and culture. At that scene unforgettable appearances have made Gena Dimitrova, Raina Kabaivanska, Hikola Ghiuzelev, Stefka Evstatieva, Mauro Augustini, Anna di Mauro, and many other internationally acclaimed singers.
Since 1999 both institutions join together in the formation of the Opera & Philharmonic Society under the guidance of several highly regarded and renowned conductors. At the present time principal conductor is Mr. Georgi Dimitrov.

Georgy Dimitrov graduated from the Bulgarian State Conservatory with performance degrees in orchestral conducing and violin. During 1976 Mr. Dimitrov continued his education in St. Petersburg with Prof. Evgeni Mravinsky and Prof. Arvid Yansons. In 1985 he attended special course in opera performance at La Scala di Milano.
Mr. Dimitrov was conductor of the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra and since 1982 he has been nominated a Chief conductor of the Rousse Opera House.
During the 1990 -1996 concert season Mr. Dimitrov was appointed as conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Republic of San Marino, where he continues his performances and duties. Mr. Dimitrov has vast artistic career conducting all of the symphonic orchestras in Bulgaria. In addition he has been guest conductor of such famous orchestras, like those of St. Petersburg, Bucharest, Budapest, and Mexico among other distinguished places. Since 2000 Mr. Georgy Dimitrov is a General Director of Opera - Philharmonic Society, Rousse and since 2004 he is the Principal Conductor of the Plovdiv Opera & Philharmonic Society.

ACADEMY OF ART FOR MUSIC & DANCE, PLOVDIV, BULGARIA

The Academy of Art for Music & Dance, Plovdiv, is the next significant school of art beside the National Academy in the capital, with 40 years of history in excellence. The Academy is confirmed center for professionals in the fields of classical and folk music, ballet, folk choreography, conducting and composing, musicology and pedagogy, fine arts and painting, as well as church frescoes.
At the present time there are more than 1000 students studying in all fields by utilizing modern facilities, such as library with center of informatics and publishing availabilities, audio-video studio, computer hall, exhibition gallery, and newly renovated, state of the art concert hall. The Academy is worldwide recognized for its excellence in education and credits earned are fully transferable, which allows unique professional experiences and realization.

Dean of the Academy of Art for Music & Dance, Plovdiv is Professor Anastas Slavchev, world renowned musician and pianist.

CITY GALLERY OF FINE ARTS, PLOVDIV, BULGARIA

The City Gallery of Fine Arts, Plovdiv is one of the most remarkable cultural institutions in Bulgaria. Since its establishments in 1952 until today it gathers, treasures, and represents to its visitors the greatest pattern of Bulgarian fine arts. The gallery’s rich expositions are arranged in four separate buildings, situated in places, convenient for the visitors of the city: three of them are on the territory of the architectural – historical reserve “Old City”, Plovdiv, and the other building is located on the main city street.

The exposition is housed in the building of one of the first Bulgarian revival schools in the town – “St. st. Kiril and Metodii”, where in 1875 for the first time was celebrated the deed of both national enlighteners. After four years a team of highly qualified art experts arranged chronologically on two floors the exposition that includes over 200 original works of art following the development of the Bulgarian fine arts since the revival. The exhibited paintings and sculptures are all originals. They are the best works from the old and contemporary Bulgarian Art, gathered from different institutions, museums and private collections through buying efforts and endowments.
